Counseling for College Students, Young Adults, and adolescents
Emily works with clients to help them find their own strengths and be inspired to build upon them. She incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, and Somatic/experiential techniques in her work. Her professionalism and approachability make it easy for her to connect with people. Aware that it is often difficult to simply talk in an office setting, she uses hands on experiential techniques such as art, mindfulness, and creativity to help make the client as comfortable as possible. Emily has a strong clinical background and has worked on crisis teams, in day treatment settings, hospitals, and schools. She excels in offering support to adolescents and young adults dealing with issues such as anxiety, stress management, self esteem, depression, and grief and loss. Emily enjoys working with students from the University of Colorado and takes Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, and CU Gold Student Health insurance.
Parenting Support
Trained in Love and Logic, Emily is available to work with parents and teens together to help them find better ways to communicate and connect. She is also able to meet with parents individually to help them work with their child around issues such as anger, anxiety, expression of feelings, and communication. Emily is a parent of two boys and understands the stress that comes with parenting.
She also enjoys working with mothers who are dealing with stress and feeling overwhelmed. She is trained in meditation/mindfulness and has lots of experience working with Anxiety. She enjoys helping people learn strategies to manage stress and find more balance in their lives. She strongly believes in self-care, and can help mothers learn to balance taking care of themselves while raising children.
Group Facilitation
Emily is trained in and ran the Girls Empowerment Program called Smart Girl at Casey Middle School. She loves to help adolescents and young adults build confidence, learn better communication, and build leadership skills. She also enjoys running groups for teens related to stress management, anger management, and divorce support. Having worked at the Colorado Outward Bound school, Emily enjoys working with groups around team building and leadership development.
