About Emily
history
Emily Sellergren has worked in a variety of therapeutic settings since 1999. In 1994, she received a BA in Psychology and Dance from Skidmore College, and in 1998 she received an MA from Naropa University in Somatic Psychology.
Philosophy
Emily believes in helping clients find their own strengths and building upon them. Her approach to therapy is strength based and client centered. She helps individuals to find their own solutions and become fully empowered. Emily uses Solution-focused Brief Therapy techniques as well as Cognitive Behavioral therapy and Somatic based techniques. She is also trained in EMDR and has experience with Anxiety. She strongly believes in the connection between mind and body. She teaches mindfulness and uses experiential techniques such as art, taking walks and teaching relaxation skills, . She connects well with people and provides a caring environment where a client feels s/he can share feelings. Emily is both professional and approachable.
Work Experience
Emily has experience working with adolescents and adults individually and in groups. She enjoys running groups for clients covering topics such as stress management, divorce, anger management, and empowerment. She has worked in schools, hospitals, day treatment settings, and in the outdoors. Emily is also on the referral list for the University of Colorado and takes both Aetna insurance and Anthem Blue Cross as well as the CU Gold Health Insurance.
